He says he loves me but says he still loves his ex, can he love me if he loves her?

Ok me and this guy have a real history. I've known him for eleven years and in October of 05 we went out then he "dissapered" but was really sent to boot camp. He came back and we stayed friends but I still love him madly. Then last year he started going out with this girl that treated him like crap. But now their broken up and he says he still loves me and we kinda messed around(not sexually) but he and the girl screwed around when they were together but he says he loves me but he still loves her.





Can he love me the way he says he does if he still loves her?

I think he can feel a different kind of love for each of you, however, you need to give him space to decide who he wants to be with. Meanwhile, you should take that time and figure out what is best for you.

You love them in different ways, but your heart has room for all of them without diminishing the others. What you need to find out is in what way he loves her, is she a friend, or is it more?


Remember the word love can also mean a special fondness, and until proved otherwise I would accept his explanation at face value. I would think if there was more to it, he would not have told you he had any feelings one way or the other for her.

I went through the same situation when I was young, I liked 2 guys BUT only "loved" one of them. I was actually enfatuated with the first guy because I had gone out with him for soooooo long, i guess cause I was so use to being with him all the time that I missed him.............I thought I couldn't live without him .............. BUT here I am 5 years later and still alive! =)
